oh beautiful day

caroline,

our house is a wreck -- we have so much to do! but, the sunshine is sure enticing! i love spending my days with you, precious baby.  thanks for playing with me :)

 {bertie doesn't hide her feelings well}

 {note what an amazing job i've done with our porch. shameful.}
 {you don't seem to mind, though}
 {bertie is done with this sister playtime. she prefers to be the only child ;)}
{yes you are teething.  if the phone chewing doesn't prove it, your restless sleep does.}

you bring me great joy, sarah caroline!

i love you,
mom :)

lazy days with liney-lou

caroline,

you've been pretty snotty for about a week...thank goodness you are feeling much better today!  it doesn't seem to slow you down...but last week we did spend a lazy day at home...you never even changed out of your pajamas. well, technically you did change into clean pajamas...because margo came to play with you...and soon after she left, grandma and grandpa arrived :)

i like lazy days with you, liney-you!
 {these first two shots were the night preceding our pajama day...you crashed HARD with dad}
{snot cute.}
{i LOOOVVEEE to watch you play alone}
{but as soon as i get the camera, alone time is done}

i love you so much!
mom :)

meet margo

ok.  this is not at all what this blog is about.

fair warning there will be lots of rambling and awkwardness.  i just know it.

maybe because i know margo is going to absolutely kill me.

maybe because i'm not quite sure how you adequately describe someone via blog post.

maybe because i feel like i'm in rush all over again, and i'm trying to sell my super cute best friend!

ha.

so here goes...

m e e t  myveryestfriendinthewholewideworld m a r g o!

{margo. me.}

margo and i were kappas together at ou.  we first met freshman year, but didn't really get to know each other until sophomore year.  i'd say i was shy.  she'd say i was a snob.  really not sure why i take the brunt of why our friendship didn't click until well after a year of knowing each other???!??

but, that's beyond the point.

after a random outing to a book store, we became fast friends... roommates for most of college, she stood next my sister in my wedding, and was a huge part of the reason david took a job in tulsa.  my thoughts were...if i can't live near my mom, margo is next best. :) so...that's our story in an itty-bitty nutshell.

so...who is margo?

well...
(ugh.  i'm half way between laughing hysterically and crying because i know she is going to absolutely KILL me for writing this post)

in short...
she's almost 27... and super cute... lives in tulsa now, but lived a chunk of her life in atlanta...graduated from ou...enjoys the outdoors... sporty... natural... loves to travel...has an amazing Godly family... is a dog person, but has a cat named moxie :) (ha.  i just had to mention the cat...she rescued it, and though she doesn't really like cats...they are perfect for each other.  but i still have to laugh about it)...and one of my very favorite people!

for the good stuff...

i'll start with her humor. (because that's what hit off our friendship)
    she is SO dry and SO sarcastic SO witty.  i could hang out with her all day long.  well, in college i guess we did.
{margo. macy. leah. at my wedding}

her heart.
   it's what sealed our friendship.  she lives for Christ.  i've loved watching her faith grow over the past years.

{swaziland. i just love this.  i'm surprised this babe didn't accidentally crawl in her suitcase. }

her job.
  she is in marketing and is good at her job.  but, it's not her passion.  at all.

her passion.
  africa. swaziland, specifically.  orphans.  those in need. children.

ok. so i feel like i didn't even do her justice.

i just know that she is going to be the most amazing wife and mother.  i pray for her husband often and can't wait to meet him!

...and if there is any way we could make sure her wedding is between my pregnancies...i really don't want to be a fat bridesmaid ;)

here's to margo!!

{margo...if you read this...i do truly love you. please don't kill me.}

a winter day

caroline,

yesterday was a fun day with margo! we just love when she's off work... ;)

we had lunch at senor tequila, then shopped our way down to shades for a chai, then headed to the park to play a bit!  it was cold, but not terrible...just cold enough to need a sweet sweater and hood.  we made a quick trip to whole foods, then went our separate days.  we are thankful to live so close to margo...we love these days!

playing at the park with the most precious baby girl...
{against margo's wishes, i had to get a few shots of you two together...so pretty in your winter white}

 i love you, sarah caroline

happy birthday, dad!

caroline,

today is a special day...your dad's birthday!

our morning started early, and we have had a big day of celebrating him.
{waking dad with the birthday song!}
{you wore your party hat all morning.  i'm not sure you ever knew it!}

we had a fun birthday breakfast and opened presents.

then, we picked dad up at lunchtime and went shopping at one of his favorite stores and had lunch at tuccis. then, dropped him off at work.
{wow.  dad's birthday was worthy of the debut of your birthday dress.  that's special!}

and we had to stop and buy you something special in honor of your dad's birthday! just some new clothes.  because we know you NEED them. ha :)

dinner was at blue moon.  at the last minute tyler, leslie and levi decided to drive from ft. gibson to join us.  what a fun surprise to end a great day!!
a full day of celebrating...i sure did love it...i hope you and dad did, too! i'm pretty sure y'all did. :)

i hope you know how absolutely incredible your dad is. and know what's even more incredible? his love for YOU! he is smitten by you, sarah caroline.  i see it in his every move.  his love for you makes me fall more in love with him every day.

we are so blessed to call him ours. ;)

i will always remember how proud he was the day you were born.  when you were minutes old, and it was just the 3 of us and a sweet nurse in our room, he gave me a pretty bracelet then prayed the most beautiful prayer over our family.  then, he hurried off to announce your birth! i can still feel his excitement to bring your grandparents back to meet you.
{your very first photograph together!}

{it's a girl!}

{hospital room}

{ready to take you home!}

there were some rough days during the first few months of your life, when all you wanted was me.  i think he was sometimes sad because he wanted you to want him.  i remember telling him..."just wait, one of these days you will be her everything!"
{hot, hot summer day! lunch on the river}

{feeding the ducks with grandma and grandpa before game time}

those days are here!  as soon as he walks in the door from work, you light up! i just love it.  you want nothing but for him to hold you.  i think it's pretty cute how he can't tell you no.  no matter what he's doing, he'll drop it all if you look his way. pretty precious.
{a rainy fall saturday at woodward park}

i'm excited to watch your love for your daddy grow.  i pray that love is a mere wee-example of the love you will have for Christ.
{your first carousel ride together at "the christmas train"}

your dad is a great provider for our family.  he works hard and is committed to be his very best.  i love this about him.  he is strong and faithful and has a huge heart.  i think he's pretty handsome, too ;)

i wonder which of your dad's traits you will have? one thing is for certain; you are his spitting image!
{this makes my heart melt}

{christmas in martins mill}

i just love birthdays.  i'm happy we have a day that we can spend completely celebrating your dad! i hope he feels special, loved and honored today.  because he is.

i know more than anything, he feels special because he's your dad....loved by you... and honored you adore him!

if you read this, david, we love you!  happy birthday!

....and sweet baby...i love you, too!
